XING-I CHUAN Workshop -MARCH 19
ShiFu Alexander King will be teaching the next installment of our Seminar Series at Roda Movements located at 7014 Westmoreland Ave., Takoma Pak MD 20912. It will take place from 2-6PM on Saturday March 19, 2022. ShiFu King is an experienced teacher and highly regarded international level judge and demonstrator. The workshop will cover the Za Shi Chui form and a short 2-person Xing-I exercise called Wu Xing Ke. Tuition for the event for this 4-hour event is $100 per person.
Below is information on the material to be covered.
Hebei Xing-i Chuan: Za Shi Chui
Za Shi Chui is a traditional form of the Hebei Xing-i (form and intention) system thought to date back to the Qing dynasty. This set of techniques is named for its relative length and complexity compared to the generally shorter forms of the Xing-i system. It represents the essence and practicality of Xing-I characterized by quick and seamless movements, rooted footwork and heavy stances. As the form progresses through an orderly succession of advance and retreat it demonstrates the equal representation of attack and yield.
Hebei Xing-I: Wu Xing Ke
Wu Xing Ke is a two-person set of the Hebei Xing-I system. This short drill is designed to teach the practitioner how each of the five fists (or elements) of Xing-I can bring rise to or overcome another of the fists. Practicing this drill will help the students to better understand how to apply the techniques of Xing-I. It will help develop the ability to unify offense and defense, transition between fists while maintaining proper footwork, a maintain a calm mind.
The event will close after the first 20 participants have registered so contact Paul Ramos at 301-651-3617 or via email at longmen987@gmail.com to reserve your space at this powerful event.
CHILDRENS KUNG FU CLASS TO RESUME- PARENTS-We need your input!
COVID has caused the cancellations of class but we are bringing it back soon. It will be taught by WST Alumni Jeff Bandy who had assisted in the teaching of the class for several years prior to the COVID outbreak. He is trained in both Shaolin fist as well as in Tai Chi Chuan and Liu He Ba Fa (Water Boxing). We were hoping to restart by mid-month March, but we were told that no times are available on Saturdays. There is time available on Sundays in the early afternoon and Thursday at 6 PM is also a consideration. Parents, please respond back to me or Jeff Bandy if either of these days/ times are feasible for your child to attend. Once we have a consensus, we can confirm the schedule with the Dance Exchange.
