Wu Shen Tao Kung Fu provides kids a valuable escape from their world of electronics-hypnotism and the internet. Instructors help children to focus, and improve strength, balance, coordination, and mind-body connections. The class features conditioning and forms through fundamental methods largely associated with Shaolin Kung Fu based systems. Training styles and techniques are traditional – as Wu Shen Tao instruction may be traced directly to masters from China and Taiwan – and includes postures, form training, kicks, jumps, and self-defense. In addition, classes include elements of fun and education to keep things interesting.
Class sizes are intentionally small to allow for better individual attention, and ranking belts (kung fu sashes), although used, are not emphasized as the focus is on technique, not level. For students who want to go beyond training, there are opportunities to perform at demonstration events, and to compete in locally hosted regional and national tournaments.
This program has been taught at the Dance Exchange in Takoma Park for over a decade, and is recommended for ages 6 through 12. If you have questions, feel free to email us at wstkungfu@outlook.com or call Master Paul Ramos directly at 301.651.3617 to request a complementary introductory session.
