WORKSHOP SERIES Begins January 2022

We will begin on January 15, 2022 from 2-6 PM, and the series will continue every other month for at least a six to 10 month time frame. They will take place at Roda Movements at 7014 A Westmoreland Ave. in Takoma Park, MD.
The EIGHT METHODS WORKSHOP
On January 22, 2022 the Eight Methods workshop took place at Roda Movements in Takoma Park. These exercises, derived from older forms of Yang style Tai Chi. Combined with the 5 stepping patterns they create the 13 Postures which is the basis of most Tai Chi styles. Ten participants worked separately and in paired settings to examine Ward Off, Rollback, Press, Push, Take Down, Rend, elbow Stroke and Shoulder Stroke. They were expressed as block movement as well as string of 9 pearl execution as well as from the perspectives as Qigong exercises and as self- defense methods. There was a lot of information to cover and the participants stated that there was much more involved than they originally thought. By the end of the evening, we were a bit tired but there was a consensus that the event was both informative and enjoyable. Our next Seminar will take place in March with the dates, times, topic, and the instructor to be announced.
YEAR OF THE WATER TIGER
Welcome to the year of the Water Tiger! February 1 is the Lunar New Year, which means it’s officially time to embrace 2022 and lean into its potential. This year is known as the year of the Water Tiger and will bring a confident and authoritative energy to all. Tigers are aggressive, tenacious, ambitious, competitive, and strong. Tigers are also known to be generous to their loved ones. Super enthusiastic in all they do, the Water Tiger has a strong moral compass and open mind. Therefore, we can imagine that this is a year that will encourage us to take charge of our lives and to grow into the person we want to be.
